Insurance
Your hearing is part of your overall health, and some insurance plans will cover the cost of your hearing tests and/or hearing aids. At Swift Audiology, we accept Medicare and most major insurances – UPMC, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, United Health Care, Humana, and Aetna. When you schedule an appointment with us, we will ask for your insurance card information so that we can verify your benefits and let you know what is covered and what you may be eligible for and have that ready at your appointment!
Our insurance verification process will determine the nature of your benefit and whether you have an allowance or if benefits are subject to a deductible. Traditional fee-for-service plans allow you more choice in your provider, services, products, and continued care and service.
Other managed care insurance plans administer their “benefit” through third-party administrators. In this case, the provider, products, and care are dictated by the TPA. While there are some benefits to this option, the most obvious downside is the fact that care and service are limited by the TPA plan. These plans typically don’t support ongoing hearing treatment beyond initial fit and use of the devices themselves. By making an appointment and having us verify your coverage, we can let you know what kind of benefits you have and explain your options to enable you to make a well-informed choice.
We will regularly check any changes in your coverage that may offer you a better price or the ability to upgrade! Our insurance verification and billing are part of Swift Audiology patient services. Whether you need diagnostic hearing testing or even hearing aids, we can work with your insurance company to verify coverage.
Medicare Advantage Plans are increasingly adding Flex Spend cards that may be used towards the purchase of hearing aids.
